PHILOLOGICAL COMMENTARY

In If a City 2 (275-76 and 283-84, *38.27'), this omen is followed by an omen regarding a blister beetle entering a man's lap and an omen about a blister beetle stinging a man (*38.28'-29'). In the present edition, these omens are placed earlier in the sequence as omens 38.17' and 38.18'. See the comment to 38.17'.

Note the association between the mention of a man's foot in the protasis and the reference to a journey in the apodosis. See also 38.27'.

For a possible explanation of the positive meaning of this omen, see the commentary to 38.15.
