PHILOLOGICAL COMMENTARY
  • The omens 32.A.5 and 32.A.7 as well as 32.S.4 and 32.S.5 should be examined as a group as all four are very similar to one another. 
  • Based on the hand copy, the above omen has the same protasis as the subsequent omen, 32.S.5. The apodoses are similar in meaning, but are not the same. For a discussion on the repetition of this particular protasis with varying apodoses—though all the apodoses relate to overcoming adversaries—see the commentary at 32.A.5. 
  • If a City 2 (182, 32.4) does not include the break in the sign ŠUB, but otherwise transliterates the omen as above.
