PHILOLOGICAL COMMENTARY

The reading DAM-sa3/sub> in If a City 2, 274, 38.7 reflects the handcopy of MLC 01867; however, upon collation, the sign following DAM is to be read -šá.

The reading of the verb of the apodosis is uncertain due to the poor state of preservation of the final part of MLC 01867. But, for a similar apodosis, see also 38.8.

The sexual activity of the blister beetles seems to have triggered the female association with the 'lady of the house' in the apodosis. See also 38.8.
