PHILOLOGICAL COMMENTARY

Omens 38.22'-38.25' are attested only in the excerpt text K 03726+. It is possible that the standard sequence included some more omens here, but the dimensions of the extant tablets, in particular the standard text Sm 0472, make it unlikely that more than one or two omens, if any, are missing.

The translation in If a City 2, 274, *32.24’, copies the protasis from the subsequent omen *38.25’. The translation, however, fails to indicate that almost the entire protasis is missing and any such reconstruction is speculative.
