PHILOLOGICAL COMMENTARY
  • As the Assur and Sultantepe recensions have closely mirrored each other for the past few omens, we would expect 32.S.43 to be similar or identical to the above omen (32.A.41). Indeed the sign NINDA ‘bread’ appears in both, but there are problems in reconciling the signs as drawn on the Sultantepe hand copy with the above omen. See the discussion at 32.S.43.
  • The omen 32.A.42 adds to the above omen’s protasis while retaining the same apodosis.
