The two lines, however, have differing apodoses.</li> </ul> Collation of K 02708+ i 12’ revealed that the fourth sign is ina not ana as read as by If a City 2 (192, 32.36’, A i 12'). The meaning does not change. See for example Variant K 06912+. <ul> <li>The translation of the sequence on K 03730+ ina KI.NÁ gi&scaron;NÁ is uncertain. KAL 1 22 Rs. 26 records a similar protasis: [DI&Scaron; lu-u ana UGU gi&scaron;NÁ lu-u ana U]GU KI.NÁ GU4.UD; ‘[If a wild cat] jumps on either the bed or the sleeping place’ (translated from the German original KAL 1 22, 93 Rs. 26). Following that protasis, we suggest K 03730+ 25 is an example of scribal ellipsis and interpret gi&scaron;NÁ as an alternative to KI.NÁ: [If a lizard ] f[all]s [on] a man’s sleeping place (or on a man’s) bed. See also <a href="https://tieromina.acdh-dev.oeaw.ac.at/omens/Omen-32-N-37-/tei">32.N.37’</a> for a similar construction.</li> </ul> For the combination of gi&scaron;NÁ ‘bed’ with DAB ‘to seize’ in omen apodoses meaning ‘to be bedridden’, see CAD E, 318 s.v. er&scaron;u 1d-2’. <ul> <li>If a City 2 omits <a href="https://tieromina.acdh-dev.oeaw.ac.at/omens/Omen-32-N-Sm-0710-20-21-/tei">Sm 0710+ 20’-21’</a>. The two lines are on the manuscript’s broken, lower edge. On the left-hand side, only the very top parts of about five signs (Sm 0710+ 20’) are visible. Their readings above are tentative and based on K 03730+ 25. The signs for I.BÍ.ZA are on the other hand easy to read but are followed by traces of less-certain signs. From K 02708+ i 12' or K 03730+ 25, one would expect either a NA or LÚ. The traces however do not fit well with such a reading. We tentatively read -u as a phonetic complement to I.BÍ.ZA and a broken LÚ. The traces of LÚ are so broken however to allow the reading of almost any sign.  There is room for at least one sign in the line’s final break. Sm 0710+ 21’ is almost completely broken away. The sign DAB, although damaged, is clearly written below the ZA of I.BÍ.ZA. There is room for several signs in the right-hand break.</li> <li>As the earlier edition If a City 2 does not provide separate reconstructions for variant lines, its reconstructed transliteration and translation of the above omen differ from the current edition, making comparisons difficult.
