PHILOLOGICAL COMMENTARY

The commentary text BM 129092 includes a commentary for omen 22.5 (see CCP 3.5.22.A.b, 4):

˹x˺ ˹x˺ ˹x˺ [...] ˹NA˺ ŠUB šá it-ti MUŠ.SAG.[KAL ...] ˹x˺ ŠÀ an [x (x)]
... [ana? …] amēli imqut ša itti ṣarṣ[ari ...] ... libbi … […]It falls [on? …] of a man (refers to the snake) who together with a ṣarṣ[ari-snake …] … […] (BM 129092 4).

Because the quoted apodosis is broken in BM 129092, the commentary could be a reference to any of seven different omens (omens 22.5-12). Omens 22.5-7 have ana muḫḫi amēli imqut, omen 22.8 has ana pān amēli imqut, omens 22.9-10 have ana arki amēli imqut, omen 22.11 has ana imitti amēli imqut, and omen 12 has ana šumēl amēli imqut. The subsequent commentary in line 5 can be clearly related to omen 22.11. Therefore the commentary in line 4 probably does not comment on either omen 22.11 or omen 22.12.

The final three signs of line BM 036389+.2: 7 have been read from a photo and require collation.
