PHILOLOGICAL COMMENTARY

The Glossenkeil denotes two alternative apodoses.


K 12140 and Sm 1980 omit this and some of the following omens.


1879-07-08, 0319 is a small fragment preserving seven lines. Freedman places line 1’ in *22.2, lines 2’-3’ in *22.3, line 4’ in *22.7, line 5’ in *22.8, line 6’ in *22.9, and line 7’ in *22.10 (see If a City 2, 20-22, there Ex(8) 1 etc. without an apostrophe to mark the broken upper edge). There are traces of another line above the first, but we maintain Freedman’s numbering to avoid confusion. The placement of most of these lines is difficult, apart from lines 2’-3’, which can be placed in omen 22.3 because it preserves part of the apodosis.
